Border residents are organizing the first "Korea Peace Day" event to pray for peace between South and North Korea. Hosted by the Korea Peace Day Organizing Committee and organized by the Border Peace School (Principal Jeong Ji-seok), the event will be held on June 6th at 10 AM in Cheorwon.
A variety of enjoyable activities and meaningful programs are planned. Participants can enjoy a piano concert at the Border Peace School's Korea Peace Camp, participate in a citizen peace declaration meeting, a peace march, a hand-holding event, and a citizen peace choir. The Korean Christian Church of Presbyterian denomination (KCCP) will also hold a peace worship service and a groundbreaking ceremony for a church of reconciliation and peace as a side event.
The Border Peace School explained that while the government has previously attempted to promote peace events in border regions, these efforts have not been realized. They organized this event to transform the divided border area, which has been a site of military tension and conflict, into a zone of peace. The Border Peace School plans to hold "Korea Peace Day" events in other border regions such as Paju, Gosung, and Ganghwa.
